Driveways Tutorial
There are more to driveways than you might think. First you'll want to think ahead and ask yourself... what will be driven on your
driveway, a truck or car. Standard everyday  vehicals go with at least a 3000 psi strength concrete at 4" inches thick, but if your
expecting to have SUV's and heavier than normal cars, go with at least a 3500 psi strenght concrete. If you expect to have a
tractor trailer you'll need at least a 5000 psi at 6 " inches thick.
All Driveways should have a broom finish for a slip resisant surface.  Keep in mind that you need to get all of your concrete
jobs done at once. It'll be cheaper... if you want a turn around pad when backing out go ahead and get it. Now lets consider
how wide the driveway should be.  First check how wide your vehical(s) are. Somewhere around 6' feet wide. You'll need at
least a 10' foot  wide drive so that you can have 2' ft on each side of the car. You can widen the driveway at any point to
accomodate other vehical(s). After that,  check your yard for drainage. Most of the time your yard has water fall away from the
house but if you don't ...there are ways to prevent water standing like french drains and even work the concrete  with a valley in
the driveway to direct the water .
